XPLORING: Sydney Harbour

Sydney is renowned for its famous harbour, defined by glorious blue water that shimmers like a glistening jewel in the Sydney sun. Home to incredible landmarks such as the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, these unique pieces of architecture define the city of Sydney for locals and tourists alike. Whether Sydney has been your home for decades or merely a few days, driving over the Harbour Bridge itself and following the bend towards the CBD, a glance to your left you will be rewarded with one of the most breathtaking views Sydney has to offer and if you are feeling a little daring, why not climb the bridge itself, with an organized tour of course.

Notoriously known as Sydney’s ‘Coat hanger” the bridge frames a picturesque scene of ferries, yachts and cruise liners coming and going, transporting passengers in and out of the harbour. Not only is there an array of fun filled activities to do on the water, the land surrounding it is overflowing with the hustle and bustle of people enjoying spectacular cocktails at Opera bar, soaking up the sun, shopping and dining in Darling Harbour and Cockle Bay.

A 26-kilometre circle walk of the harbour winds through the foreshore and into secluded bays, lush bush land and through historic Sydney streets. Sydney Harbour has a number of islands, which represent our history and culture. Cockatoo Island is a beautiful heritage listed industrial space, originally housing European convicts. There are often exhibitions or events held here, such as the Biennale Art exhibit.  Other islands include Fort Denison, Shark, Clark, Rodd and Goat.
